Employees of Shukaku Inc. pump a sand-water mixture into Boeung Kak Lake in Central Phnom Penh in an effort to fill in the lake to make way for a 133-hectare commercial housing and development project in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Sept 11, 2010. More than 4,000 families will be evicted from their homes as part of the 133-hectare Boeung Kak Lake development project which is being carried out by Shukaku Inc. In 2007 authorities awarded a 133-hectare swathe around Boeung Kak lake to Shukaku Inc, which is headed by Cambodian People's Party Senator Lao Meng Khin. Housing rights advocates say the villagers have a right to claim ownership of the land, on which many have lived for decades.
